To quote from our Grading Page – What is a Ligne Bretagne Collector? These handmade pipes sit at the top of the Ligne Bretagne brand, offering quality workmanship in creative styles derived from classical pipe shapes. They’re created using the same briar I use for Talbert Briars, and go through the same processes in order to be fully comparable smokers and beautiful pieces of art combined. Each pipe is priced individually based on grain and complexity of design, with prices typically running between $350 and $500.
Our first rusticated Collector for 2021, showcasing our signature swirled surface carving and fumed-rim finish. I’d been wanting to make a horn like this for a while, because I love the shape and it’s an enjoyable challenge to get the curves and lines right without unsightly “humps” at the stem and shank join. For me, the key ingredient in a good horn shape is that it should look like one long curve in silhouette, with no visible distinction where shank ends and stem begins. The surface carving detail was done to move with the form of the bowl, to wrap around it and help give it a bit of “life”.
