I wanted to do something very different after working on all those rusticated Princes, so we’re currently finishing up a couple of bigger Dublins in sandblast finishes for a change from rustication. These Dublins are bigger bowls than a lot of the other Ligne Bretagne shapes, with a taller and wider chamber, and I lined up a couple for some nice ring-patterned blasts. It was a lot of fun to work with the sandblaster again and by my aging eye, I count over 20 years of age ring growth in this pipe stacked up the bowl. The stem is decorated with contrasting white rings surrounding a cherry-swirled colored resin ring – Check out the close-up photo above, its color striations are pretty cool.
