The first pipe from our new workshop! It’s so strange working now… I know it’s only been about five months since we started our move but it feels like it’s been years. In the case of this pipe, it has been years – Our pressure regulator for our sandblasting cabinet died sometime in 2017 so for the past couple years we’ve been dodging around blasting as it was clumsy without regulator control. It’s nice to finally be able to once more fine-tune the blasting pressure and create intricate finishes like this that don’t show up in photographs at all. Check out the close-up shot of the stem ring, though, as that gives a decent idea of what the grain texture looks like up close.
These slightly-bent oval-shanked Canadians have been popular for us. They’ve got taller bowls than a lot of the LB shapes, for one, plus the design is so slinky that they’re always super lightweight without falling into the “This pipe is a thimble” size of so many sub-28 gram pipes. The bowl rim is unstained and polished smooth, and the stem sports a mottled ring of German cumberland.
