Moving pipe #2! I’m writing up a little How-To on our Patreon about this one – The finish is unstained, but it’s a couple steps beyond just unstained, with some extra treatments given to the briar to help enhance the contrast of the natural grain a little while not actually adding color to it. I think it makes for a better looking pipe, but the difference is subtle and the extra work is great, so I don’t do this often as it tends to blow the hourly working wage if applied too often. It’s a beautiful result, though, with that soft natural warmth of the bare briar coupled with some lovely bird’s-eye displays and nice cross-grain. This one differs from #2088LB also in having a very slightly bent stem instead of straight. Different strokes and all that.
