I decided to play around a little while waiting for the votes on next month’s “Shape of the Month” to finish up (It’s pretty much done now, and looks like it will be these acorn bowls) and I drilled and finished this one-off. The other acorns all have a longer stem but here I just thought I’d goof around a little and fit something short to make an acorn almost-noseburner. It came out surprisingly well! The short stem compliments the chunky fat bowl nicely and the whole thing fits easily into a shirt pocket while offering a bigger bowl chamber than most other Ligne Bretagnes. Given its status as a one-off, I put a little extra time into the swirl carving, which is most obviously visible on the underside view where the entire surface swirls into a sort of “stirring” effect.
