Our run of these bent eggs continues. As I mentioned in a previous description, I think this set is going to be the end for this shape as I can’t find any more in storage. It’s a bummer, because we don’t have a lot of bent shapes in the Ligne Bretagne brand to start with, so I hate to lose one. If you want one of these, grab one while you can!
This one may (?) be the last smooth one in this shape. There’s another potential one but it has a few spots and will need to be darker stained if it even finishes smooth, whereas this pipe is remarkably flawless and I was able to leave it virtually natural, only giving it a subtle golden yellow final tint to give the grain of the briar a little more vibrancy. Usually this sort of color is used over black or dark brown to create those yellow contrast stains, but I’m fond of it all by itself as seen here – It gives a pipe a pleasantly autumnal “feel” while still essentially presenting unadulterated wood to the owner.
