This new shape for June is probably going to be one of our more popular, if early comments are any indication. Most of them are being finished in our fumed-top look, but this one was so flawless that we opted to make it a natural, and do a bit more complex of a carve on it also. Take a look at the various close-ups of the bowl, from the sides, front, and underside, to get a feel for the detailed swirls and whirls etched into the surface as they spiral up from a tight twist at the pointed bowl bottom. A nice side effect of leaving it natural is that the grain of the briar can still be seen as well – Look close at the bowl in the photos and one can see the shadow of the briar’s crossgrain beneath the lines of the carving.
