"Out of Stock" messages during check-out mean that the pipe has already sold, but I have not yet updated the catalog page to reflect its "Sold" status.

This is one of the last three of these shapes that we're doing for this production run. That doesn't mean this shape is going away forever, but it does mean it won't be seen again anytime soon, maybe not again this year. Like Oom-Pauls, these oval shanks require a lot of extra care during the drilling process which bumps up the labor time. The flaring bowl and wide shank certainly give it a unique character, however, and the fact that these shapes offer one of the larger Ligne Bretagne bowl chambers means there will definitely be more in the future. The design makes a great showcase for both rusticated and smooth finishes, and the long and wide shanks are great for showing off the grain of a crosscut block, as here.

This IS the last smooth bowl in this shape for the time being - The remaining two pipes like this are both rusticated. In that respect, it's a "Grab it while it's available" pipe, because it won't be something I can reproduce six months from now as a one-off. Odds are there will be no more smooths in this shape till we do another 10-20 pipe run of these. I finished it with a mild contrast stain - I didn't want it to have the sort of stark yellow & black look this time, but more of an overall "soft golden glow", to wax slightly poetic.
