Another of our wilder, shaggier rustications on the next in the current set of oval-shanked pipes that are lined up for finishing. As I mentioned in another description, we don't do a lot of these oval shank pipes because they're something of a pain - the oval shanks don't fit any of our shank chucks and oval stems are always extra fussy to fit right and so on. But, they're great pipes from a functional side. The bowls and chamber capacity are some of the larger in the Ligne Bretagne brand, yet the lengths look best short so they're very practical and portable. Also, those wide shanks lend the pipes a certain ukulele-type look that's appealing, PLUS providing us with a broad canvas for shank carving. On most of these rustications, the bowl is the focus and it's the area that gets all the work, with the carving just essentially trailing off down the shank, but here it's possible to make the shank a style element unto itself.
