Here's another of these beautiful, clay-style shapes that have proved so popular for us lately. I suppose it could also be considered a Bing variant, but my real visual goal is the tavern clay here, in briar form - A long-stemmed, ultra lightweight pipe with a tall "stretched egg" bowl that holds more tobacco than it looks like it should for such a feather-light pipe. The gentle bend of the horn stem and the subtle forward cant of the bowl add just enough dash to the shape to give it a bit of flash without losing its classic appeal.

The stem is a French-handcut horn piece, of natural horn, and the sandblasted bowl has been finished in a layered, multi-toned stain technique I developed that helps enhance the contrast between the recesses and outer edges of the surface topography.
